About Us

St. Scholastica Gift Shop is a ministry of St. Scholastica Monastery and has been in business since the early 1980s. Begun as a dream fulfilled by Sister Maurus Witt, OSB, the shop was originally housed in the Retreat Center. In September 2008, it moved to the first floor of the monastery with easy access from the front parking lot.

Through the years, many of our Sisters have donated their time and talent to this ministry. Currently, our staff includes Sisters Barbara Schroeder, Rose Maria Birkenfeld, and Pat Bolling. For the past several years, Sister Vivian Luyet has been a mainstay of the shop, and we have enjoyed her wit and generous smile. Recently, we have been blessed by the generosity of Kathy Furstenberg who is volunteering her time in the shop. Thank you, Kathy!

The advent of the year 2012 ushered in this online venture. It is new to all of us so please be patient as we iron out the details. We are starting small by offering just Sister Macrina's books but hope to soon add more products.

If you are in the area, please come visit us! We offer a wide selection of religious items and are located on the first floor of the Monastery at 1301 South Albert Pike Avenue, Fort Smith, AR, 72903. Our hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 3:30, Saturday from 12:30 to 3:00. We are closed the second Saturday of each month as this is a day of quiet and prayer for the sisters.
