Catholic Sisters Week 2025

During Catholic Sisters Week, March 8-14, 2025, we’re celebrating the legacy of our Benedictine Sisters alongside other communities of women religious. In 1879, two Benedictine Sisters moved from Subiaco, Arkansas, fifteen miles east to Shoal Creek. These sisters were part of the group of four sisters who left their motherhouse of Immaculate Conception Convent in Ferdinand, Indiana, to come to join the Benedictine monks in Subiaco to serve German Catholic immigrants also settling along the railroad lines. In the 146 years since then, the Benedictine Sisters of St. Scholastica have educated students, cared for the sick, assisted in faith formation, nurtured and protected the earth, stood in solidarity with those in poverty, and provided a space for others to enter into the quiet contemplation of the monastery to learn to grow in communion with God.

The sisters would enjoy hearing from anyone who has been touched by their influence. Please feel free to call, email, or send a card to the sisters to share your memories with them. To support the sisters and their mission, you can donate online.

Thank you to all who have been an integral part of the tapestry of faith woven by the lives of the sisters of St. Scholastica.
