SISTER PATRICK CINGOLANI

Sister Patrick Cingolani, OSB of St. Scholastica Monastery, Fort Smith, entered into eternal life on November 9, 2010 at the age of 96. She was born January 20, 1914 in Lake Village, AR to Florio and Anna Cingolani. She entered St. Scholastica Convent in 1928 and made her monastic profession on June 24, 1930. She earned her B.S.E. at Mount St. Scholastica College, Atchison, KS in 1957 and received her six-year elementary teaching certificate in 1965. She taught elementary school for 55 years at Sacred Heart School, Charleston; St. Edward, Little Rock; Holy Rosary, Stuttgart; St. Joseph, Paris; St. Benedict, Subiaco; St. Mary, Lake Village; St. Joseph, Pilot Grove, MO. After retiring from teaching in 1987, she spent seven years visiting with the homebound in Morillton and three years in St. Joseph’s Home, Little Rock, working in food service. She retired to St. Scholastica Monastery in 1997.

Sister Patrick is survived by one brother, Orlando (Geraldine) Cingolani, Monticello; two sisters-in-law, Syble Cingolani and Kate Cingolani, Lake Village; one brother-in-law, Pete Dolci, California; many nieces and nephews and the members of her monastic community.

Vespers for the dead were held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2010, in the Monastery Chapel.

The Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. David McKillin, OSB, presiding, followed by her burial in the monastery cemetery.
